Gate design depends on the opening width, slope of the ground, the posts or columns available and how often the gate will be used.

We fabricate each gate to suit the property and can match existing fencing or railings.

Driveway and walkway gates solve different problems. Driveway gates span a wide opening for vehicles, so their size, weight and the space needed for them to swing or slide drive the design. Pedestrian gates cover a walkway or side yard, are opened by hand many times a day, and are usually judged by how smoothly the hinges and latch work.

Fitting the opening is most of the job. We check the posts or columns the gate will hang from, the ground under the swing path and whether the gate has to clear steps, a slope or a walkway edge. When a gate joins an existing fence, we match the picket spacing, top style and height so it reads as one run.

Decorative choices include arched or flat tops, picket style and spacing, and finials. Our custom iron gate project is an arched-top walkway gate fitted between masonry columns at the base of garden steps.
